A pre-anesthetic blood screen comprises blood tests that are performed in the clinic prior to surgery. It tests your pet's organ function, blood counts, and electrolyte levels. The pre-anesthetic blood screen is performed to ensure safety during surgery and to assess the ability to heal following surgery. It is recommended for all patients, but mandatory for those aged 5 and older.

These advantages include reducing your pet's desire to roam the neighborhood, helping prevent spraying and marking, and reducing the number of unwanted puppies and kittens. In addition, having your pet spayed or neutered can help to decrease the chances later in life of developing breast tumors, cystic ovaries and uterine infections, and prostate cancer.
